Take complete ownership of the accounting function within an early-stage, well-funded real estate investment/development firm whose mission is to serve and elevate the Black and Latino communities through strategic investing.

In this role, you will work closely with a high performance Executive Team.

Responsibilities: 

• Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements of the investment manager and warehouse subsidiary and oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements of the Fund and individual properties

• Develop and implement effective internal control over financial reporting to ensure the completeness, existence, accuracy and appropriate valuation and presentation of the applicable financial statements; and assess practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvement

• Coordinate with the asset management team for the preparation and/or review of consolidated property-level information to ensure that such information is accurate and complete

• Review monthly, quarterly, and annual property-level budget/actual variance reports to validate data and interpret results for senior management

• Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested, including non-accounting-related projects

• Willingness to take on and drive projects from start to finish

Requirements:

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with some of that experience at a Big-4 accounting firm

• Prefer prior experience with fund accounting, property-level accounting and accounting for investment managers  

• Technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP

• Experience with multifamily real estate accounting platforms (specifically Yardi) is a big plus

• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
