Who You Are:
-
A polished professional with extensive experience in corporate accounting within real estate or similar investment/asset management industry.

You have a history of creating company-wide accounting policies and procedures and have effectively coordinated with multiple departments to implement these procedures.

This position requires a great deal of oversight and supervision of budgets and expenses, and requires detailed reporting on all financial matters.

In this role, you will be responsible for not only managing budgets, but creating projections and tracking all cash flow. Additionally, you will interact/consult with outside tax advisers.
The Role:

This is a dynamic role that requires extensive accounting experience, both in the public and private sector.

You will be supervising all aspects of accounting for the corporate entity.

Reporting to the Chief Accounting Office, the Corporate Controller will be a part of a team that creates and implements reporting policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
-
General ledger, fixed assets, accounting, payroll, treasury management, internal auditing, AR/AP, collections, reporting, and budgetary and expense controls

Prepare all accounting and financial analyses of operations for the guidance of management

Creating an annual budget

Development of processes to record department transactions and compare to budget

Preparation of reports to support annual tax returns

Completing performance analysis of profits
-
Record journal entries to survey monthly activities of the parent company

Responsible for managing cash balance and maximizing excess funds, as well as creating cash projections - creating records for year to date cash flow

Supervising asset management billing, acquisition, disposition, and other fees

Manage and record investments made by the corporate entity

Assist the Chief Accounting Officer in maintaining retirement records and accounts

Improve processes for accounting systems and technology
-
Responsible for managing the company’s financial plans and processes, maintenance of fiscal records, and creating finance reports

Supervision of the creation and closing of all bank accounts and their users
-
Working closely with partnering financial institutions and maintaining professional relationships
-
Supporting the CFO in creating management controls, financial reporting processes, stock management, taxes, and corporate finance responsibilities

Supervising all accounts payable through multiple entities and review of all expenses
-
Create financial reporting packages for both management and investment partners

Management of quarterly and annual auditing

Setting up early state portfolio companies

Handling tax planning and maintaining compliance at a local, state, and federal level
Requirements:
-
Bachelor's and/or Master’s Degree is Business Administration from a well-recognized university with an emphasis on accounting

CPA - Big 4 experience preferred

Computer expertise: familiarity with Novell Group Wise, Concur and MRI is preferred

Experience managing accountants and finance processes
-
Former Controller experience, ideally in the real estate or investment/asset management industry

Understanding of the objectives of a real estate investment organization

Blended background in both private and public accounting
