The Role:

  • This position will report to the President/CFO and is both hands-on and managerial in nature.

  • The right candidate will have a very strong background in accounting, ideally with a public accounting foundation and 5+ years of experience in managing an accounting department.

  • The Senior Accounting Executive will be assisting in developing and implementing internal controls as well as collaborating with external auditors.

  • This is a progressive-thinking, early stage and profitable business. They are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit who is not intimidated by working with institutional investor joint venture partners.

  • This role is poised for growth into the CFO position within 12-24 months from hire.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare all aspects of accounting, financial reporting and analyses of operations for the guidance of management.  This includes general ledger, fixed assets, accounting, payroll, treasury management, internal auditing, AR/AP, collections, reporting, and budgetary and expense controls

  • Improve processes for accounting systems and technology

  • Responsible for managing the company’s financial plans and processes, maintenance of fiscal records, and creating finance reports

  • Working closely with partnering financial institutions and maintaining professional relationships

  • Supporting the CFO in creating management controls, financial reporting processes, stock management, taxes, and corporate finance responsibilities

  • Create financial reporting packages for both management and investment partners

  • Management of quarterly and annual auditing

  • Setting up early state portfolio companies

  • Handling tax planning and maintaining compliance at a local, state, and federal level

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree and CPA

  • 10+ years experience, preferably in Real Estate

  • GAAP accounting rules 

  • Equity and purchase accounting treatments

  • Knowledge of tax structures

  • Effectively work with a small budget for an early-stage organization

  • Advanced computer skills, including Excel. Great Plains experience a bonus

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, in both working with and managing a wide range of personalities
