Diverse responsibilities include Corporate, Fund and Operational Accounting, as well as Financial Planning and Budgeting.

Summary:

Working closely with the Corporate Controller and CFO, you will be responsible for the oversight of the financial reporting for real estate funds, corporate and fund-level accounting, and internal reporting for the management companies. Other responsibilities include reviewing financial planning and budget management/forecasting activities, and ensuring company accounting procedures are followed and deadlines are met.

Responsibilities: 

  • Review monthly and quarterly close schedules and documents for fund-level and corporate entities

  • Review fund and corporate financial reporting, financial planning and budget management reporting

  • Review underlying schedules for annual and quarterly report of actual revenues, transfers, and expenses

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements

  • Oversee the coordination of financial audits and tax return preparation

  • Responsible for the review of Intercompany reconciliations; Bank reconciliations; Management fee calculations; Distributions; Commitment Tracking and; Capital calls

  • Review periodic fair value analysis

  • Review wires, bank deposits, and corporate card reconciliations

  • Review new debt entries, periodic debt compliance workpapers, and periodic lender reporting

  • Review corporate-level financial outlooks and financial forecasts

  • Review monthly operating variance reports

  • Review periodic budget to actual variance reports

  • Assist with timely filing of all corporate tax returns including income taxes and tax projections

  • Review and update the chart of accounts

  • Review legal entity accounting and administration, including addition of new entities

  • Review financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions

  • Assist with maintenance of internal control framework

  • Assist with responses to accounting related investor inquires

  • Manage and review work of staff and senior accountants

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting; Master’s Degree and/or CPA preferred

  • Minimum of 7 years of combined public accounting and private industry accounting and financial reporting experience required

  • Knowledge of accounting, finance, and budgeting processes

  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems

  • Knowledge of federal, state and local financial regulations

  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections

  • Ability to effectively train and manage staff

  • Ability to perform with a high level of discretion, professionalism, and integrity

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with advance Excel skills

  • Experience working with Yardi, preferred
